Last night we heard 21 different pitches and we narrowed the field down to 4 teams. Here is a brief description of each team below:
1.) TravelDice – They are working on a service for travelers to search for flights based on price and travel dates. A user might search for a flight departing June 1 and returning June 7 and might cap their budget at $300. The search results would then display a list of random cities from lowest price to highest price from the airport of origin. This would be perfect for travelers willing to take a spontaneous trip without having to specify their destination initially. They are working on launching TravelDice, (@traveldice) creating their social community and working on hacking up some travel API’s.
2.) Keynot.es – The team is working on tagging conferences, speakers and attendees then matching them up. A user could be one of three types, a conference, an attendee, or a speaker. For example a Startup Weekend event that was listed on the site would be tagged as #entrepreneurial, #startup, #startupweekend. A user could tag themselves with similar tags and be paired up with that event. Potential speakers could be identified in a similar fashion and contacted via the event organizer to see if they would be willing to be the keynote. (@gokeynotes)

3.) Take it Healthy – Goal is to create options for busy families to pick up healthy meals for their family. They are working on tackling the problem of people making unhealthy meal choices based on time crunches. The goal is to tap into existing infrastructure from local restaurants on their slow nights and provide them with more customers on those days seeking healthy options.

4.) Smart & Trendy – This idea was pitched by a French exchange student who explained how expensive tailor made clothing is in France. The idea is to have local tailors take measurements then forward those on to tailors overseas to produce the clothing for less. Items are then shipped back to the customer.

Friday, March 5th: (Pitch ideas, Form Teams)
5:30pm: Doors open, meet and greet, discuss what would be interesting to build.
7:00 Pm: Pitches start!
Anyone can get up and pitch an idea. This is a self-selection process. People form teams around ideas that they think are interesting and would like to work on for the weekend. Ideally, you’d like a group between 5 and 10 people — but groups of 2 or as large as 10 are acceptable. Teams are not limited to working on web only applications. Generally, these make the most sense given the nature of the weekend and those who register. But if you really feel like working on that new cupcake business, go for it!
9:00pm: Vote on top ideas and form teams around those ideas based on interest and skill sets required to build the ideas. Teams solidify their concept and create an elevator pitch.
Midnight: Leave for home after brainstorming with team.
Saturday, March 6th: (Build Build Build!)
9:00am: Start development.
12:00pm: Lunch break.
9:00pm: Gut check on the product; basic prototype building; group get-together for drinks and to talk about the products everyone is working on.
Sunday, March 7th: (Build, Demo, Wrap Up)
9:00am: Get back to work on projects.
10:00am: By now, you should have a live splash page up with an email capture and a simple blog.
12:00pm: Projects are being developed, lunch
6:00pm: Sink or swim time for those looking for a weekend launch.
7:00pm: Presentations from each company. Talk about what worked, what didn’t, what could go better.
10:00pm: Wrap up and move out.

If you look on the left side bar you will see that we have an amazing group of very talented and very successful local guys. Normally these guys are the Speakers whenever there is an Entrepreneur/Business event in or around Oklahoma.
Since Startup Weekend is about doing & not listening we decided that instead of having them as Speakers we would have them work side by side with each team. Help them formulate their strategies, help them look at funding sources, help them really get their mojo cranking. This weekend is all about doing and you get their input on your business ideas. Talk about adding value!
I think we will all be shocked at what is possible when you get 50-60 wickedly talented people together and have them crank out companies in 54 hours.
Are you going to be a part of it or just wish you had been? Sign up today and use “swokc” as a promo code to get $20 off your ticket.
